KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., July 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Universal Health Services, Inc. (NYSE: UHS), headquartered in King of Prussia, PA, has named Steve G. Filton as the company's Chief Financial Officer effective July 1, 2003, as announced by Alan B. Miller, Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Filton will assume the responsibilities of CFO in addition to his current supervisory duties of accounting, financial reporting, taxes, purchasing and information services.

Prior to this new appointment, Mr. Filton served as UHS Vice President, Controller and Secretary. He joined UHS in 1985 as Director of Corporate Accounting after working for six years in the audit division of Arthur Andersen.

A graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and is a member of the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public Accountants.
